Does 100% of my donation really go to families?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Every dollar donated to Little Flame Foundation goes directly to kids with cancer and their families in Alberta — rent, groceries, gas, hotel rooms near treatment, parking, emergency needs, and hospital programs. None of it pays our wages, software, accounting, legal, or this website. Those costs are covered separately by CTN.

What is CTN and why do they pay for your operations?

CTN is the Consumer Trust Network — a network of local businesses that funds the operational costs of charities so donor money never has to be spent on overhead. CTN covers our wages, marketing, accounting, legal, software, and infrastructure end to end. That funding is what makes our 100% model mathematically possible.

Where exactly does the money go?

Rent for families whose kid is in treatment far from home, groceries, gas cards for hospital trips, hotel rooms near treatment centres, parking passes, emergency needs, and direct support for children's hospital programs in Alberta. If we can't tell you exactly what something paid for, we don't list it.

Are you a registered Canadian charity?

Little Flame Foundation is an Alberta-based foundation in its first year of operation. We filed for charitable registration with the Canada Revenue Agency on June 3, 2026; CRA review typically takes 6–12 months from filing. We'll publish the registration number on this site the day it's issued.

Can I donate monthly?

Yes. Monthly giving is the backbone of what we do — it lets us commit to families with confidence. You can choose monthly on our Ways to Give page.

Question 6

Is my donation tax-deductible in Canada?

Accepted Answer

Tax receipts will be issued once our charitable registration is finalized. Until then, we'll note clearly on the donation flow whether a receipt is available for any given gift.

Question 7

How do you choose which families to help?

Accepted Answer

We work with hospital social workers and Alberta partners who refer families whose child is in active treatment and whose household costs are accumulating faster than they can keep up. We do not select families based on public stories or media — privacy comes first.

Do you share names or photos of the families you help?

Accepted Answer

No. We do not publish names, photos, or identifying details of the families we support. Privacy is non-negotiable. When we describe a situation, it is generalised or composite.

How can a business get involved?

Local businesses can fund our operations through CTN's partner network — donations still go entirely to families, while the business helps power the engine. Email us at hello@littleflame.ca to talk about partnership.

How can I trust the 100% claim?

Accepted Answer

Two ways. First, the money is kept in two strictly separate pools — donations and operations never mix. Second, we publish quarterly transparency reports with every dollar in and every dollar out. If we ever stopped being a 100% charity, we would say so plainly.
